5 Simple, Actionable Strategies to Make Better Videos

Read Time: 1 Minute 21 Seconds

Hey y’all — Ryan here.

We’ve all been there.

You see, most creators & brands are approaching video content all wrong.

They're trying to:

  • Film and edit daily

  • Create everything from scratch

  • Perfect every detail

  • Do it all over again every time

That's a recipe for burnout.

Here are 5 methods you can use today to stop content from taking over your life.

1. The Batching Method

Stop trying to create videos daily. Instead:

Create 4-7 videos in one day when you're "in the zone"

  • Pick one day per week for filming

  • Set up your equipment once

  • Use the same lighting setup

  • Record all your intros back-to-back

This saves you 3-4 hours per week in setup time alone.

Plus, when you're in focused creation mode, your content will be more consistent.

2. Create a Branding Kit

Instead of trying to design your fonts, colors, and captions from scratch each time, take a few minutes to create these 4 things only once:

  • Color palette

  • Font selection

  • Go-to video effects

  • Color-grading choice

Now you’ll never waste extra energy and time on design decisions.

We’ve noticed that the path to creative freedom is:

removing all repeated friction you experience in the process.

3. Creating a Series

Most creators waste hours "thinking" about what to film.

Brainstorm these 4 things:

  • Content buckets (categories your content falls into)

  • Video templates for each bucket

  • Hook examples for each bucket

  • CTA’s for each content bucket

Here’s some examples of content buckets:

  • Tutorial videos

  • Journey updates

  • Behind-the-scenes

  • Product/Art reviews

  • Building in public

Then brainstorm 2-3 examples for each bucket. BAM.

Now you have a diverse stockpile of video ideas.

4. The Feedback Loop

You there, agonizing about what topic your next video is going to be about—

this is one solution to get your creative juices flowing.

You see, here’s the problem.

Many creators waste hours making content nobody is particularly interested in.

That’s painful. I’ve been there.

So let’s start by doing this instead:

  • Run casual polls on your platforms asking what kind of content your audience wants to see

  • Track their responses

  • Actually use the data

See which ideas fit with your long-term vision—

Perfect feedback isn't the goal.

This should direct your attention toward some interesting new ideas instead.

5. The 80% Rule

Here's why most creators burn out:

They try to make every video perfect.

Instead, follow the 80% rule:

  • If the video is 80% good, publish it

  • If your setup is 80% perfect, start filming

  • If your script is 80% ready, record

Perfection is the enemy of consistency.

And on social media, consistency beats perfection every time.

We stand by this.
